DR. ROBERT CERESA

Dr. Robert M. Ceresa joined the faculty at Huston-Tillotson University in the fall of 2013 as an assistant professor of Political Science. He earned his doctorate in international relations from Florida International University and his master's degree in public affairs from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Ceresa is a scholar of politics and international relations with broad multidisciplinary training. His academic interests include political development and participation, community and civil society groups and organizations, and urban and ethnic politics, with a particular focus on Cuban Miami and diaspora politics. He considers himself a political anthropologist, examining how local community actors influence larger cultural environments. His research explores the intersection of cultural commitments from political theory and racial/ethnic identity within civic and political engagement efforts.
